The first store in Koramangala, Bangalore was conceived as a walkthrough format stationery store to sell premium products, at that time an innovative concept. However, more than the success it achieved in selling conventional stationery, it helped discover the enormous interest of the Indian customer in acquiring fine writing instruments, hitherto unavailable in the Indian markets. This gave birth to our first Penn store @ Forum Mall, Bangalore which opened in 2004, where we showcase popular international brands like Montblanc, Caran d’Ache, Sailor, Sheaffer, Lamy, Lapis Bard, etc, the likes of which were earlier not seen on shelves of the Indian stores. In the years that followed, the company has gone from strength to strength establishing 32 stores across India, in major cities, including Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, & Calicut besides the five stores in Bangalore, therefore making William Penn the largest fine writing instruments chain of stores in India. To compliment writing instruments, the company has added high quality & premium brands in men’s accessories to its list of offers. The E-Commerce portal set up in 2007 (www.williampenn.net) allows customers to browse and shop from the comfort of their homes both within India and beyond. The strong distribution network across India and the customized services offered to corporate clients in all the major cities have further strengthened the customer bond. It is, therefore, no surprise that William Penn has earned the distinction of becoming the single largest independent distributor of Sheaffer Writing Instruments in the world. William Penn has also recently bagged the exclusive Distribution Rights for Lamy Brand in India.
